2011 High School Awards PDF Print E-mail

The Green Footprint Awards for Student Environmental Leadership will annually recognize exceptional efforts to appreciate nature and protect the environment by some of our community’s youngest leaders.

One graduating senior from each Howard County public high school will be honored every year.  Each recipient will be chosen by his or her own school, based on the student’s commitment, creativity, and leadership in efforts on behalf of the natural world and the people who depend upon it. Honorees will receive a letter of commendation, a $50 honorarium, and a signed copy of The Chesapeake Watershed:  A Sense of Place and a Call to Action, by local writer and sustainability advocate, Ned Tillman.

Twelve public high school seniors in the Class of 2011 received the third annual Green Footprint student environmental award. We extend heartfelt congratulations to all of them.

“It has been our honor to acknowledge these young environmental leaders,” said Marianne Pettis, Executive Director of the Foundation.  “Their example leaves a lasting environmental legacy for students who follow in their footsteps.”
